Peru has extended a health emergency as it faces a record outbreak of dengue fever that has killed more than 80 people so far this year, mainly in its Amazon area and on the country’s northern coast. More than 73,000 cases have been registered nationwide so far this year, according to a report by the Ministry of Health, representing a more than 100% increase from the same period last year, when around 31,000 cases were reported.
