World Pneumonia Day, held each year on November 12, aims to raise awareness about this deadly illness.

The Ministry of Public Health said that the number of people suffering from pneumonia has increased over the last several years. The comments were made on Saturday, World Pneumonia Day.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, more than 960,000 individuals nationwide have been infected with this disease during the past eleven months, and 1,795 have died as a result.
