Minister of Health, Salih Al-Hasnawi, announced on Saturday that the ministry has initiated a project to establish drug rehabilitation centers in five provinces. He also noted ongoing efforts with the Health and Environment Committees to amend Law No. 50 of 2017 in line with the National Anti-Drug Strategy for 2024–2030.
In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Hasnawi said, “As part of the government program led by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, the health sector’s initiatives prioritize combating drug abuse through various approaches.”
He emphasized that “one aspect involves the Ministry of Interior’s work on border control, monitoring traders and dealers, and fostering international cooperation with neighboring countries.”
