UNICEF says it has reached about 60,000 children with education services and supported millions of people across Afghanistan with lifesaving assistance and emergency health interventions.
In a statement, UNICEF said it reached approximately 167,000 internally displaced people and returnees at border points including Torkham, Spin Boldak, Islam Qala, and Milak, as well as surrounding reception areas. The support included integrated emergency services such as health care, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), psychosocial support, and immunization.
The agency also reported that around 60,000 children, 60% of them girls, were supported through community-based education programs and temporary learning spaces established for children affected by displacement and return movements.
