Yemen Health Office Reports Measles Outbreak With Over 1,200 Cases

The Health Office in government-controlled areas of Yemen has reported a widespread outbreak of measles during January, recording more than 1,200 infections and eight deaths, according to an official statement from the Taiz Health Office.

Taisir Al-Samie, the office’s media officer, confirmed that Taiz province alone registered 144 cases and three deaths. He stressed that the outbreak is not confined to Taiz but has spread to other regions, raising fears of further escalation.

Al-Samie noted that the situation in Houthi-controlled territories is “far worse,” with infections and fatalities multiplying while the group conceals actual data, exacerbating the crisis.
