The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) has announced that Yemen recorded 47,817 cases of measles and dengue fever, including 281 related deaths, during 2025, underscoring the country’s worsening public health crisis.
According to UNOCHA’s latest report, suspected dengue cases accounted for the majority, with over 24,000 new infections and 67 deaths reported across 15 governorates.
The agency noted that dengue infections rose by 36% compared to 2024, warning that the detection of dengue virus serotypes 3 and 4 in Aden and Lahj has heightened concerns due to the increased risk of severe symptoms and fatalities.
The report also highlighted a sharp rise in measles, with 23,817 confirmed cases and 214 deaths last year.
