The World Health Organization (WHO) affirmed Tuesday that health systems in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, particularly Kuwait, rank among the most digitally mature in the Eastern Mediterranean region, highlighting their growing role in supporting healthcare responses beyond national borders. In an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) marking World Health Day, observed annually on April 7, WHO spokesperson Christian Landmeier said the GCC’s experience in digital health, telemedicine and electronic health records could serve as a catalyst for strengthening healthcare delivery in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
