Egypt, Kenya discuss health cooperation, pharmaceutical security


Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Kenya’s Health Minister Aden Bare Doley to discuss expanding bilateral health cooperation and strengthening Africa’s pharmaceutical security.

The talks focused on boosting local production of medicines and vaccines, supporting the African Pooled Procurement Mechanism (APPM), and enhancing collaboration between Egyptian and Kenyan pharmaceutical companies.

Abdel Ghaffar highlighted Egypt’s progress in pharmaceutical regulation and the role of Vaccines and Biotechnology City, which is expected to meet around 22% of Africa’s vaccine needs.
