Nigerian health authorities have announced that the death toll from cholera has risen to 37, with infections exceeding 3,000 cases since the beginning of May in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria.
According to Nigeria's Ministry of Health, the outbreak has spread across 36 areas of Borno State, with the epicenter located in the state capital, Maiduguri, which accounts for more than half of all recorded cases.
The Ministry confirmed that Nigeria, in coordination with its international partners, is working to mobilize the necessary resources to contain the outbreak and improve the performance of water supply, sanitation, and hygiene systems, alongside preparing infectious disease treatment centers to accommodate the increasing number of patients.
