Qatar accelerates digital healthcare drive with smart labs

Qatar is accelerating the digital transformation of its healthcare sector through the adoption of advanced smart health technologies, with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) leading efforts to modernize laboratory diagnostics and genetic testing services. The initiative supports Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to build an integrated digital healthcare system driven by innovation, data, and advanced technologies to improve patient care, strengthen medical decision-making and enhance the efficiency of healthcare services.

HMC has introduced advanced digital systems to manage laboratory operations, integrate diagnostic equipment with electronic medical records and deliver test results more quickly and securely. The growing use of artificial intelligence, data analytics and advanced diagnostic technologies has become a central component of Qatar’s healthcare strategy, strengthening the sector’s ability to meet future healthcare challenges. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Head of the Department of Medical Laboratories and Pathology at HMC, Dr Enas Al-Kuwari, said the corporation’s laboratories conduct more than 20 million diagnostic tests annually, including approximately 153,000 genetic tests performed by the Genetic Diagnostic Laboratory.
