MSF Warns of Severe Health Risks for Malnourished Children in Yemen’s Hajjah

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) on Wednesday sounded the alarm over life-threatening complications facing children in northern Yemen’s Hajjah province, an area under Houthi control. In a press statement, the organization reported a sharp rise in admissions of children suffering from severe acute malnutrition and related medical complications.

Between January and May 2026, MSF treated 1,216 children at Abs General Hospital in Hajjah, including 1,106 with severe acute malnutrition and dangerous complications—a 19 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025. The organization warned that without urgent, adequately funded interventions, preventable deaths linked to malnutrition, disease outbreaks, and lack of treatment are likely to surge.
