The Ministry of Health has taken a major step toward modernizing the country’s healthcare system through digital transformation initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and patient access.

On February 9, 2026, Minister of Health Dr. Mustafa Al-Furjani received Mr. Assad bin Dyab, President and General Manager of Tunisia Telecommunications Company, for a high-level meeting focused on accelerating the digitalization of health services. The engagement centered on leveraging technology to enhance quality of care and bring healthcare services closer to citizens.

Both parties agreed on key priorities for the next phase of reform. A central focus is the expansion of high-speed internet connectivity across health institutions, particularly primary healthcare facilities, to strengthen frontline service delivery. The initiative is expected to improve data exchange, telemedicine capabilities, and overall system responsiveness.

Digital sovereignty also featured prominently in the discussions. The ministry confirmed plans to adopt 100% Tunisian cloud solutions to safeguard national health data, ensuring enhanced security, privacy, and local control over sensitive medical information. This move aligns with broader efforts to build resilient and self-reliant digital infrastructure within the health sector.
