Somalia’s Minister of Health and Social Care, Dr. Ali Haji Aden, convened with World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in Geneva for high-level discussions aimed at strengthening the medical partnership between the two entities.

Focus on Maternal Health

According to officials, the dialogue centered on enhancing cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the global body. Particular attention was given to:

  • Supporting maternal and child health initiatives.

  • Improving professional midwife training programs.

Global Leadership

A significant portion of the meeting addressed Somalia’s participation on the WHO Executive Board, highlighting the nation’s growing role in global health governance.
