The Public Health Laboratories have been awarded ISO 15189 accreditation by the International Accreditation Service (IAS), highlighting their excellence in reference testing for viral diseases, including measles, rubella, influenza and emerging viruses.

Amjad Ghanem, Head of Public Health Laboratories at the Ministry of Health, said the accreditation reflects the team’s commitment to high quality and professionalism and enhances the laboratory’s status as a regional reference centre.

The accreditation process included updating the quality management system, staff training, reviewing standard operating procedures, and conducting internal and external quality assessments, followed by an on-site evaluation by IAS experts.
