Pakistan's Health Services Academy named Global Public Health Center of Excellence by ADB, CAREC

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Programme have officially designated the Health Services Academy (HSA), Islamabad, as one of only five Global Public Health Education Centers of Excellence (CoEs).

The announcement recognizes HSA for its exceptional contributions to public health education, robust research capabilities, and steadfast commitment to advancing regional health objectives.

Prof. Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor of HSA, hailed the designation as a historic milestone for Pakistan’s medical and public health education.

“Being named a Center of Excellence is not just an honor for HSA—it reflects Pakistan’s emerging leadership in global public health. This recognition positions us at the forefront of research, education, and policy coordination across the 11 CAREC member countries,” he stated.

The newly established network of Centers of Excellence aims to foster regional cooperation in public health education, develop cutting-edge training and research programs, and harmonize health standards and curricula across CAREC nations. It also seeks to strengthen the region’s collective preparedness and response to evolving public health challenges.
