Libya’s Office of the Public Prosecutor has initiated a sweeping investigation after reports confirmed that a counterfeit version of the medical disinfectant “Instru Zym” was being distributed in the local market, despite the German manufacturer stating it has not exported the product to Libya for five years.
A verification exercise by the Judicial Control Affairs Unit found that the fake disinfectant had already been used across several healthcare facilities. Acting on prosecutorial directives, the Customs Authority’s General Directorate for Combating Smuggling and Narcotics launched field operations that uncovered sites producing the forged brand and seized large quantities of the counterfeit product.
