Deputy PM and Minister of Planning, Muhammed Ali Tamim, stressed on Monday, during the 2025 United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, the need to enhance universal health coverage and expand investment in primary health care.
Tamim delivered the statement of the Republic of Iraq on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, of which Iraq currently holds the presidency, during the 2025 United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, held in New York, said a statement by the Ministry of Planning, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
"The forum is being held at a very critical stage, as only five years remain to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, amidst progress that remains uneven and off-track in many countries, particularly developing ones. The worsening challenges facing the world, most notably poverty, hunger, unemployment, geopolitical tensions, and climate change, in addition to unilateral coercive measures and the global financing crisis," Tamim noted.
