The Minister of Health, Mohamed Seddik Aït Messaoudene, emphasized Tuesday in Algiers the state's ongoing commitment to mobilizing all necessary human and material resources to enhance the quality of care for cancer patients.

Presiding over the opening of the 2nd International Cancer Patient Congress—held under the high patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune under the theme "For a Comprehensive National Approach to Cancer Control: Synergy in Service of the Patient"—Aït Messaoudene stated that the event serves as a platform for exchanging expertise while placing the patient at the heart of national healthcare policy.

To this end, the minister added, the state has deployed significant resources to strengthen cancer care, notably through "the establishment of 15 specialized oncology centers, 24 radiotherapy centers, and 61 linear accelerators, alongside the integration of 52 innovative treatments into the national therapeutic formulary, while prioritizing early diagnosis and ensuring continuity throughout the care pathway."

For his part, the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Ouacim Kouidri, affirmed that his department had achieved a major qualitative leap in domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing, with Algeria now hosting "250 pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that cover 82% of national medicine requirements."
