Health insurance rates on the rise in Lebanon

Private insurers operating in the Lebanese market are planning a 10% increase in health insurance rates.

The reasons for this decision include the 23% rise in the cost of medical care and services, the surge in doctors' fees, the cutbacks in public subsidies for medical care and medication, and import price inflation for medical equipment and prostheses.

Insurers are also blaming hospitals and doctors for over-prescribing medical tests and prolonging hospital stays.
