Blood test predicts heart attacks and strokes 30 years in advance

Scientists have revealed that a simple "3D" blood test can accurately predict a patient's risk of heart attack and stroke 30 years in advance.

Nowadays, doctors usually perform a cholesterol test (known as LDL) to determine whether a person is at risk for various heart problems.

But in the new study, which spanned three decades, researchers also tested blood for two additional biomarkers: CRP, a protein produced by the liver that increases in response to inflammation, and lipoprotein A, a type of fat in the body.
