Morocco’s Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tahraoui, signed three memoranda of understanding (MoU) today in Geneva, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the World Health Assembly.

The 79th session of the World Health Assembly runs from May 18 to 23 in Geneva, bringing together member states to address global health priorities, including universal health coverage, strengthening health systems, and reducing inequalities in access to healthcare.

“On the sidelines of the proceedings of the 79th session of the World Health Assembly held in Geneva, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tahraoui, signed, on Monday, three memoranda of understanding in the health sector,” Morocco’s Ministry of Health announced. 

The agreements were concluded with Indonesia’s Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Libya’s Health Minister Mohammed Ali Al-Ghouj, and Hosams Abu Meri, and Latvia’s Health Minister, marking a new step in Morocco’s efforts to expand international cooperation in the health sector.

The agreements aim to strengthen health systems and advance key priorities, including universal health coverage, human resources development, digital health and telemedicine, as well as medical research and innovation. They also cover pharmaceutical and vaccine-related sovereignty.

Alongside the signing ceremonies, Tahraoui held bilateral discussions with his counterparts. The talks focused on implementing the signed agreements and exploring concrete areas of cooperation, including training, digital transformation of health systems, governance, and health security.
