Medical Sources Warn of Severe Health Risks from Contaminated Cancer Solutions in Sana’a

Medical sources have raised alarm over serious health threats facing cancer patients in the Houthi-controlled capital, following attempts by influential figures within the militia to release a shipment of contaminated medical solutions that had been earmarked for destruction at the Oncology Center of Al-Thawra Republican Hospital.

Journalist Fares Al-Hamiri revealed that the shipment, seized in 2024 and stored inside the center’s warehouses, has not yet been destroyed.

He noted that interventions by powerful Houthi leaders halted the disposal process, sparking fears that the dangerous solutions could be reintroduced into medical use despite proven risks.

According to documents published by Al-Hamiri, an inspection committee from the Supreme Authority for Medicines confirmed severe defects in 23 types of intravenous solutions intended for cancer patients, after they failed laboratory testing.
