Survey filled in by over 800 people in Iran confirms concerns about the authorities’ violations of the right to information during a global health crisis. The findings show that the majority of participants relied on external sources, such as Persian-language media outside of the country, rather than internal official sources for COVID-19-related information. Despite delays, denials, and deceptions that have characterised Iran’s COVID-19 response, there has been no accountability for those violating people’s human rights, including the right to access information, health and even the right to life.
