Qatar Red Crescent expands support for Syria’s healthcare sector

The Qatar Red Crescent has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Syria’s healthcare sector by implementing a series of humanitarian interventions aimed at assisting amputees and providing cancer treatment, with the goal of easing patient suffering and improving services for the country’s most vulnerable populations.

In a statement carried by the Qatari news agency QNA, the organization said it is providing chemotherapy and immunotherapy medications for displaced and needy Syrian cancer patients at the country’s main oncology center. Hundreds of prosthetic limbs are also being installed, alongside physical rehabilitation services, assistive devices for people with disabilities, and treatment for amputees.

The Qatar Red Crescent also delivered a 3D printer to Syria’s prosthetics center and an immunohistochemistry (IHC) device to a pathology laboratory in Idleb province. These initiatives are part of a project to improve medical access for displaced persons in northern Syria, implemented in coordination with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and the Ministry of Health.
