A medical source in the governorate of Tafilah, southern Jordan, clarified on Sunday about the death of a university student from the locals, which appeared to result from him contracting non-epidemic meningitis, at a time when laboratory tests confirmed the safety of all his contacts.
The medical source said that the epidemiological teams immediately started implementing strict precautionary measures upon recording the death, including collecting samples from three cases that were in direct contact with the deceased during his time in the intensive care unit.
The source indicated that the scope of the tests had been expanded to include an additional 46 individuals who were indirectly in contact, confirming that all results were negative and free of any infection.
