Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasem Buhaibeh met on Tuesday with UNICEF Representative to Yemen Akil Iyer to discuss closer cooperation and ways to strengthen the agency's support for Yemen's health sector.

The meeting focused on enhancing coordination between the ministry and UNICEF to improve the delivery of health programs, with particular emphasis on linking future support to measurable performance indicators, including service quality, financial management, and the development of health information systems to ensure more effective and sustainable outcomes.

Dr. Buhaibeh reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to deepening its partnership with UNICEF in support of national health priorities and efforts to improve healthcare services across the country. He also outlined the mounting challenges facing the sector, highlighting the continued decline in humanitarian funding and the growing strain it has placed on the provision of essential health services.
