UNRWA Commissioner-General: it’s World Health Day, a day where we should all be celebrating health and healing

In Gaza, we’re mourning the loss of both instead.

- Health workers are killed or injured.

- Health centres are constantly under attack.

- Basic medical and health supplies are running out.

- Medical staff are exhausted after having tirelessly dedicated their lives to the community and the wounded. They constantly have to make tough decisions about which lives to save.

- Two million people are scarred for life with trauma and shock, battling with the invisible wounds of mental health.

Against all odds, our health workers at UNRWA  have provided more than 8 million consultations since the war began.

They work around the clock to provide for their communities in our health centres, mobile clinics and medical points despite the bombardment and the tight siege.
