Sudan’s Northern State reports five new dengue fever cases

Sudan’s Northern State health ministry reported five new cases of dengue fever on Monday, bringing the total number of infections to 116 as of March 1.

No deaths have been recorded, though health officials expressed concern that the disease could spread across the state if preventative interventions are not tightened.

Northern State has seen a rise in mosquito-borne illnesses over the past few weeks, particularly in the agricultural and irrigation areas of Merowe locality. Health authorities have responded by intensifying control campaigns, public awareness programs, and epidemiological surveillance to curb the outbreak.
