In the past week, the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) in one environmental sample of an already infected district.
As of 15 November 2024, a sewage sample collected from Usta Muhammad on October 14 tested positive for WPV1.
