The Ministry of Health has urged the public to strengthen preventive measures as seasonal influenza and respiratory infections continue to rise across the country since early October.
Speaking to a local radio station, Dr Faryal al Lawati, Senior Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Head of the Infectious Diseases Unit at the Royal Hospital, said current data indicates a stronger flu season this year, particularly during the winter months and ongoing school term.
She noted that while cases are increasing, the situation remains under control and there is no need for restrictive measures such as school closures or workplace suspensions.
