Libya, World Bank step up talks on health sector projects

Libya’s Acting Minister of Health, Mohamed Al-Ghuj, has held discussions with Henriette Fredrik, the World Bank’s Country Representative for Libya, to strengthen cooperation in a number of key healthcare initiatives.

According to the Ministry of Health, the talks focused on advancing projects in primary healthcare, health expenditure, telemedicine services, and human resources development. Both sides also reviewed the challenges facing these programmes, particularly gaps in infrastructure and the need for modern medical equipment.

The meeting further explored future areas of collaboration, with an emphasis on drawing on international expertise in health insurance, financial and economic reform of the sector, and digital transformation technologies. These include the integration of health information systems, electronic payment platforms, and more efficient service delivery mechanisms.
