A top Iranian health official has revealed that the country's daily per capita consumption of essential food groups falls dramatically short of global health recommendations.
Alireza Raisi, Deputy Health Minister, reported that Iranians consume only 35 grams of meat daily, compared to the recommended 75 grams - less than half the optimal amount.
"Whole grain bread, vegetables, and fruits are sources of fiber, and increasing fiber consumption helps prevent digestive issues and cancers," Raisi said.
Daily dietary data shows that Iranians consume a mere 15 grams of fiber, significantly below the recommended 25 grams.
