Over 200 health facilities run by the World Health Organisation in Afghanistan have been forced to close or suspend operations due to severe funding shortages. Cuts to aid, primarily through USAID, have left the health system in crisis, limiting access to essential services like maternal care, child health, vaccinations, and malnutrition treatment. The ongoing funding shortfall has pushed Afghanistan’s healthcare infrastructure to the brink of collapse, with the situation worsening by the day. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is calling for urgent intervention to address the crisis.
