Sudan Crisis - Situation Update of South Sudan Response (Reporting date: 10 April 2024, Reporting period: Epidemiological Week 14)


Key Highlights

  • On 8th April 2024, 560 individuals crossed into South Sudan.

  • Cumulatively 635,138 individuals have entered South Sudan through 21 designated points of entry (POEs) since 16 April 2023 since commencement of the conflict.

  • South Sudanese returnees make up 79% of all arrivals while refugees constitute 21% as distributed below.

  • A widespread cholera outbreak in Sudan has resulted in a cumulative total of 10,783 confirmed cases and 296 deaths as of 14th March 20241, with a case fatality rate (CFR) of 2.7%. The outbreak poses a heightened risk of cholera importation to South Sudan due to ongoing population displacement from Sudan.
